Legend has it that Romulus and Remus, the Roman twins, who were abandoned by the river Tiber by their mother, found solace in the care of a she-wolf that found them and raised them as she would her own cubs.
Over the years, the boys grew up peacefully, until the time when they built a city in the place of their abandonment, as instructed by the God of War, Mars. It is after completion of this city that the two brothers fought over succession of the city. Romulus won that battle and named the city after himself, Rome.
