Water is a essential part of life on earth. We need water to grow food, generate power, control fire, to stay alive and many other purposes. But due to growing population and industrialization the water level is going down. So, you need to take every possible step to save water.

By installing a dual flush system in your toilet, you can save up to 5 liters of water in a single go. As in a dual flush toilet you can avoid using big flush until not required and use of small flush button will save a lot of water for you.

You also need to regularly check the leakage in your toilet. You can check it by putting a few drops of food coloring in the cistern. After 15 minutes, if you find that color in the toilet bowl, it means your cistern is leaking and need a immediate repair.

We often find people who leave tap open while brushing or making shave, but they should try saving water by turning it off. For saving water while bathing you can use low flow shower head and also in winters, while waiting for hot water to come out of your shower you should collect the cold water in a bucket and use it later for gardening or any other such application.

Prefer to wash your car in a grass lawn, as it will serve dual purpose for you. One your car will be clean and other, you don’t have to water your lawn that day. Try to water your lawn and plants at the time when sun is not so bright to avoid wastage of water due to evaporation.

Grouping of plants according to their water need will be convenient as well as water saving for you. So you should go for it in normal practice. Mulch is used to slow down the evaporation of moisture therefore, it should be used with plants, vegetables etc to maintain the soil moisture.

Take every possible step to save water in kitchen also, like apply less detergent on utensils so that less water is required to wash them off. Wash fruits and vegetables in some container filled with water so that the remaining water can be used somewhere else also like in garden.

Hence, water conservation should be a part of your overall plan and take every possible step for the same.
