A large number of options are available for the exterior lighting of your home. They are available in wide range of prices and styles. Bright lights, soft lights, decorative lights, you will find all kinds of outdoor lights in the market and can choose according to you taste and budget.

The very first thing that you need to understand is your needs i.e. what is the basic purpose for which you want to install the lights in your garden. Like weather you want a flashy look for your garden or a simple one? Or do you want to light the trees in your garden? Or simply want to light up the main passage?

Once you decide, what you want to achieve you can examine the options that are available. The most common type of outdoor lights are the solar lights. There are more options, however these are generally the most common and the popular ones.

Solar lights have become quite popular in recent years, and this is primarily because they are relatively inexpensive. These lights are also very easy to install and use, and they do not require a professional installation.

There are solar panels on top of the lighting fixtures which are charged by the sunlight during the day and illuminate light at night so make sure that they are properly charged during the day.

The major disadvantage of these lights is, they are not that bright and can not stay brightly lit for long. The light that it puts out is simply not bright enough for illumination specially for the pathways of your garden.

However, solar lights are very useful if you are simply looking for a bit of ambiance. These lights are very good if you want to provide some subtle atmospheric lighting in your garden or around a pond or water feature.
