There is no perfect cover letter format. However, if you want to write that job application cover letter, you certainly need to stick to some particular guidelines.

* Name the person you are addressing the letter to

If the position does not mention any specific name, go the extra mile and find out the name of the correct person.

* customize your job application cover letter

If you are mass-writing letters, you should get rid of any reference to other companies. This is a major turn off when an employer reads the name of other companies you have left in your letter by mistake.

*Don’t write on fancy paper

Keep it simple with your paper. There is no need to be original in try to impress with a different paper colour or a different font.

* Display a bit of humour

Use humour to show off your personality. If you manage to put a smile on the recruiter’s face, it is a positive thing! Don’t go too far though and stay within formal boundaries.

* Hand-sign your cover letter

You need to hand-sign your letter if you don’t want to look like a robot.

It is not a difficult task to write a job application cover letter. By using these simple rules you will easily succeed.

Be as original as you can without going too far, though. If you are being original you will ALWAYS stand out. Then it’s going to be up to you to live up to your cover letter expectations’ in your job interview. Good luck!
