If you are not familiar with social media in the long term that basically refers to any of the websites most popular networks are available on the Internet. These sites include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, MySpace, and Tumblr, just to name a few. All of these sites, and many others, are a great marketing tool, and to accelerate the process of gaining exposure on the Internet.
Using social networking sites, you can instantly make your family and friends aware of their new website, product or service. These sites create a spider web effect that not only creates awareness among the direct sphere of influence, but also among their contacts, the contacts of your contacts, and so on. That said, there are virtually an infinite number of people who can access and exposure to your website.
My advice for anyone who is either starting a business or looking to grow their existing business is to become a member of many social networking web sites as you can maintain and regularly update (at least three to five times a week ). Note that doing so can be a daunting task. However, if you are dedicated and committed to increase their exposure to the Internet, then you can grow your business exponentially.
If you are a completely new business, and can not afford to engage in promotional spending, then you can try to catch the eyes of potential customers otherwise. When I started promoting my new business through social media, I used a very simple and almost “in your face” approach. My message reads something along the lines of … “Check out my new site” and would be followed by a link to my website. Despite receiving a few hits every day, most family members and friends, it was not anything important.
I learned long ago that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Therefore, I knew I wanted to change my approach. It could not be happier that I did.
