My Unbelievable Tanning Experience

What do you think airbrush tanning is? If you are like me, you may think it has to do with a machine that will provide you with an even color without any exposure to UV rays. While there are such systems out there that isn’t airbrush tanning. Hopefully you will know all of that when you finish this article. You would find out about it like I did in a most humiliating way.

I scheduled an appointment for an airbrush tanning session under the assumption that this would be done privately in a booth. Boy, was I ever in for a surprise when things worked out quite differently. This was quite a leap for me from just going to the tanning bed every other day. Yet I had gotten behind on starting out that year and I wanted to have some color for a trip I was taking in a couple of days.

I had read some information online about this, or so I thought. I had imagined that this process would involve me stepping into a booth and being sprayed with the tanning solution. Since it was to last for seven to ten days I would be all set for the duration of my travels. When I made the appointment over the phone all I was told was to wear an old bra and underwear if I wasn’t planning to tan in the nude.

I decided to leave these articles of clothing on in order to be able to check to see the difference in my original color and the tanning color after I was done. I was very glad a decided to do this or I likely would have ran to hide. I think the woman in the tanning salon just assumed I knew what was going to take place as nothing was really explained to me.

I was told to go into a room and get ready. I few minutes later I heard a knock on the door. There was a young woman I had never met with a long coat on and a small air compressor in her hand. It looked like one I use to fill up the air mattress at home when we have company. Well, she was going to be applying the tanning solution to my body in this way.

The entire process only lasted about 15 minutes. Yet as you all know, time can seem like eternity when you are in a situation that doesn’t sit well with you. I think I would have rather spent that afternoon at the dentist than at the tanning salon. When she asked if I would like to schedule another appointment I told her I would call, but of course I didn’t.

I do have to admit that the results from the airbrush tanning session were very good. I was able to enjoy my vacation with a very nice color on my skin. Yet I never did go back for another session. I enjoy my privacy way to much for that so I went back to my usual tanning bed. I also let many people know what had happened so they would be prepared if they ever decided to make such an appointment.

From my unbelievable tanning experience I learned to be more assertive. I learned to never assume what you will get. Take the time to ask and to find out the facts. Should a business not have the time to answer such questions for me, I simply have the attitude that I don’t have the time to spend in their facility.
