Floor heating systems generate an even temperature from floor to ceiling, thus creating the most comfortable environment for all your family members. Different floor heaters are available to heat different sized areas.
If you have an old gas floor heater in your house you may want to change it out with a modern, safe, more efficient unit. Replacing a new gas floor heater is easy and can be done by homeowners itself. Here are some steps that help an individual to how to install a new wall or floor unit.
Turn off the gas at the valve connected to the line that goes into your heater. When the valve is parallel to the pipe the gas is on, when it is at a 90 degree angle to the pipe it is off. Now, remove the flexible gas pipe. Once the pipe is removed, you can remove the entire unit. Disconnect the hose as well.
Replacing the old heater would require you new hose and other hose fittings. Also, while purchasing the stove, care should be taken that the gas used by the stove and one that goes into your house should be same. Propane and natural gas are the two gases used for heating. Any loose coupling between the hose and other fittings may lead gas leakage and fire at last.
All set with the heater and hose, start with mounting of the appliance. But, at first make sure you have properly connected the gas pipe with the valve. Avail the gas to the heater thereafter.
Make sure, no signs of gas leaks are there. If you smell it, turn off the gas immediately at the valve. If not, use your spray bottle spraying the area where the hose connect to the gas line and where the hose connects to the heater. If you see bubbles turn off the gas immediately.
Manufacturers suggest the homeowners to install smoke detecting equipments in combination with the floor heaters. Having them placed will reduce the risk of suffocation that may occur due to gas leakage.
Replacing a gas floor heater is not at all a big deal. Even an untrained man can safely put it. In case, the user feel confused installing the appliance, better, call in a plumber to get it installed.
